A must read for any Digital Enthusiast : The BIM Managers Handbook

Image
The BIM Manager's Handbook: Guidance for Professionals in Architecture, Engineering and Construction So I'm not usually a fan of reading books, but these days I've been going all out. I've been reading "The BIM Manager's Handbook: Guidance for Professionals in Architecture, Engineering and Construction, by Dominic Holzer" I must say its a hell of a read and really defines the rules of BIM and how BIM has been implemented in the AEC industry. I would definitely recommend this if you want to get a good understanding in BIM, whether you want to become a BIM Manager or just an employee in the AEC and want to gain understanding. I would suggest you read this book. Here is where you can get it from:

How Artificial Intelligence Could Revolutionize Construction

Image
Often, the concept of AI (artificial intelligence) and robotics are combined into one futuristic notion of how advanced intelligence and technology will impact business. However, the concepts—each very different in nature—serve a specific purpose on construction jobsites today and will only expand in the future. How will artificial intelligence impact the construction industry? It is important to identify where we have been and where we are going with regards to artificial intelligence in construction. Dan Kara, research director, robotics, ABI Research, says many consider robotics to be a subset of artificial intelligence—but it is not. “Robotics systems, those technologies that sense, think and then act in the physical world, can make use of artificial intelligence techniques such as machine learning for the ‘thinking’ component, but it is not a necessity,” he explains. “In fact, most of the robotics systems in operation today do not. That will change, of course.” So whe...

Digital Asset Management (AIM) Asset information Model, Live BIM FM

Image
What is BIM?  Building Information Modeling (BIM) is changing the way projects are constructed. Whether you are a prime contractor using BIM across an entire project or a subcontractor impacted by a specific BIM implementation, this emerging practice requires new mindsets and technological know-how in order to achieve significant improvements in efficiency and cost control. BIM is the gateway to completely modernising our industry with the seamless digital exchange of information that is secure and sensitive to the context of each stakeholder in the design, construction and operation of infrastructure and facilities. So what are we doing? We understand that owners require maintaining their buildings. This is why we created Live BIM FM. Live BIM FM is an online cloud based model and asset viewing platform. What does "Live BIM FM" do?  Live BIM FM closes the gap between design and construction BIM. Allow facility managers to access live data, about the Build...

The 10 steps BIM implementation for construction and architectural practices

Image
Hello, Hi, Anthony Kamil here.  As part of my education initiative to educating the industry. I want to create a series of videos that would help and educate companies and individuals to the key elements in BIM Implementation. Please enjoy these videos, and don't forget to share, like, comment and subscribe to my youtube channel.  Together we can digitise the construction industry. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwyeZ336FsqtWk7y3IScJOjND5NTC4oJS www.agkdesign.co.uk www.instagram.com.agkcreativebim Please follow, on instagram, twitter and facebook. What is 4D BIM?

Image
They always ask. What is construction sequencing? what is 4D? Here is your answer. 4D BIM adds an extra dimension of information to a project information model in the form of scheduling data. This data is added to components which will build in detail as the project progresses. This information can be used to obtain accurate programme information and visualisations showing how your project will develop sequentially.   Time-related information for a particular element might include information on lead time, how long it takes to install/construct, the time needed to become operational/harden/cure, the sequence in which components should be installed, and dependencies on other areas of the project.

A further understanding to 2D and 3D BIM.

A further understanding to 2D and 3D BIM.  Firstly, we have started off with 2d.     2D, as we know it on paper. That is the X,Y axis. This hand drawing, this is auto cad.    The third dimension 3D, Is the addition of adding the Z axis.    3D BIM is perhaps the BIM we are most familiar with - the process of creating graphical and non-graphical information and sharing this information in a Common Data Environment (CDE).   As the project lifecycle progresses this information becomes ever more rich in detail until the point at which the project data is handed over to a client at completion.

What are the different dimensions of BIM?

Image
The confusion is real. The other day I had a customer come and enquire about Level 5 BIM?? I mean really.. I said what do mean about Level 5 BIM, he said I want costing.. So I thought i'd create a video about the different dimensions of BIM

What is BIM ?

BIM is an acronym for Building Information Modelling, or Building Information Model. It describes the process of designing a building collaboratively using one coherent system of computer models rather than as separate sets of drawings. Efficiently communicating to clients during design and construction phases

Image
Good Evening ,  I receive many questions on managing client expectations and effectively communicating to clients BIM status. Communicating to client / stakeholders where they stand on BIM can sometimes be an issue, if the client is not well BIM educated. What exactly do you communicate with the client? Is it how many attributes are in the model? LOD? Is the design team meeting the requirements set in the EIR or bim execution plan? Or that doesn't really matter, all procedures appear to be nonsense to stakeholders and they only want to see one result...and that is, is the design coordinated or not.  Now to get to this stage, one must come up with a clever solution to provide feedback on the design and models through a clever system, that's goes through a series of checks. Not just geometry but level of information existing in the model as well.  Simply a traffic light system attached with scores, if you apply the system to incoming design mode...
